Jananese Minimalism.
Japanese Minimalism
i would call it a "natural" minimalism.
why? if we look at the history of japanese "design",
we will see ,"minimalism" has dominate for a very long time.
(what i mean "design" here, include the architecture, crockery and so on)
what today the trend is, is not really a trend, but a tradition for japanese.
but where and what is the difference?
among the samples below, we can see: they used to choose a natural material and
show its real color.
"The Beauty of Unperfect" is also an important element of their traditional aesthetics. perfect geometric form is man-made and unnature. So they try to made a shape naturally pure, clean but in a more natural way. i think this is the main mentality of the japanese minimalism.
what do u think?

Cool Material!
A bad sample for Design
today i just bought a shelf. the photo bollow is a part of the shelf.
there r totally 6 small holes on it (left and right side) for the construction.
but the label covers the 3 holes the right side.
it happens not only with this shelf but also very often with the dishes or cutlery.
for the user, it is really unconvinient and uncomfortable to remove the label.
it's not designer's problem, but it tells many companys do not really copy how important it is to provide a userfriendly package for the markt.
the task of a designer is to think more with the scenario for the user, not only the product itself, but also the whole buying, openning and using experience.
